Vague FM 88.1

Vague FM 88.1 Penetanguishene also known as CFRH-FM is a Francophone community radio station launched in 1988 and owned by Radio-Huronie Cooperative. CRTC approved CJBC-FM-3 on July 14, 1987 to install its local broadcasting apparatus to rebroadcast the programming of Radio-Huronie FM Communautaire. In the next year the permissions were granted to launch another community FM in the Town of Simcoe County. The non-profit ownership agreed upon operating on a frequency of 101.9 MHz with relay facilities in Lafontaine, Perkinsfield and Midland. ERP was 10 watts for each of the approved transmitters.

Initial agreement included the 126 hours a week programs with 29 hours dedicated to spoken word content. Following an intra-corporate reorganization CFRH-FM was purchased by La Clé d’la Baie en Huronie in Feb 1999. In the same decision by CRTC approval was given to switch the frequency to 88.1 MHz with an increment of ERP to 4,493 watts that would end the reliance on low-power satellites in Lafontaine, Midland and Perkinsfield. In August 2005 the wattage was further increased to 8,600 watts with the change in other contours to improve the signal. A transmitter in Barrie was added on Nov 1, 2013 after the approval of CRTC operating on 106.7 MHz and powered by 175 w.
