WhiStle FM legally known as CIWS-FM launched in March 2008 is a community radio for the city of Whitchurch-Stouffville, ON. The radio with deliberate capital S (in its branding) was allowed a license by CRTC on Sep 11, 2006. The LP Type B radio would broadcast on a frequency of 102.7 MHz using an ERP of 50 w for a total of 126 hours/week. 119 hours will be filled by indigenous content produced at the WhiStle FM while the remainder (seven) will come from other community radios. It was proposed that CIWS-FM would mainly broadcast in English but a small space for French was also created. After a change in Antenna site the CIWS-FM was launched on March 17, 2008 the original calls: CJIM were taken down and CIWS was used instead as the legal name.

The application made by WCR (Whistle Community Radio) to CRTC to upgrade the License’s class to A was deferred by the commission in Nov 2012.
