106.1 CHEZ is a mainstream rock radio established on March 25, 1977 and currently owned by Rogers Media. On behalf of a company yet to be incorporated, Harvey Glatt was permitted to open a commercial FM broadcasting on a frequency of 106.1 MHz using an ERP of 100,000 w. CHEZ-FM Inc. on March 25, 1977 launched CHEZ-FM from its studio at 126 York Street, Byward Market. A 1,000 w standby transmitter was also available at Camp Fortune, QC for the backup and had later taken care of a thunderstorm. AOR (album-oriented rock) was the format serving in Ottawa-Hull market. Studios were relocated to 134 York Street.

Rogers Broadcasting Ltd. on July 2, 1999 purchased CHEZ-FM Inc. and studios were moved to Southern Ottawa Business Park, 2001 Thurston Drive in 2000. CRTC validated the license of the 106.1 CHEZ on Dec 17, 2012 until Aug 31, 2019. Also, the slogan was changed to Ottawa’s Rock Station witnessing the CKQB’s switch to Contemporary Hit Radio/Top 40 in 2011. CHEZ 106 was rebranded as 106.1 CHEZ on June 6, 2016.
