95.5 Hits FM, commenced in 1990 as Hard Rock station, is a Belleville based now AC radio owned by Starboard Communications. 80’s, 90’s and Now is the slogan used by the radio. CHCQ-FM is the sister of the channel broadcasting Hits from 80’s, 90’s and Now. The history of the radio dates back to November 1990 when CRTC allowed Twigg Communications Ltd. to establish an FM station in Belleville area. CJOJ-FM would use a frequency of 102.3 MHz and ERP of 30,000 w. Twigg already had ownership to CJBK, CJBK-AM, CHOK and CJBX. The initially proposed frequency of 102.3 MHz was altered as per the wish of Twigg to 95.5 MHz following an approval by CRTC. Wattage was also increased to 50,000 watts.

CJOJ branded as OJ 95 singed on air on Dec 1, 1993 from its studios at 355 Pinnacle St. Tony Zwig accepted the job of GM. John Sheratt the owner of Starboard Communications Ltd. purchased the CJOJ-FM in 2002 and format was switched to Classic Hits in Feb 2003. Classic Hits 95-9 was rebranded as 95.5 Hits FM flipping to Adult Contemporary Hits format in 2009/2010. CRTC renewed the license of the AC station administratively in Aug 2012 to Aug 2013.
