CBAF-FM-5 Halifax 92.3 (Première Nouvelle-Écosse) is a part of CBC French language network Ici Radio-Canada Première. The channel traces its origins back to 1979 when CBAF-19 was established on June 26 in Moncton. It singed on air using a frequency of 92.3 MHz on FM dial. The studios for the input to the Atlantic French region became operational by September 1985. Première Nouvelle-Écosse was renamed as CBAF-FM-5 Halifax. The station along with its locally produced content was sourced through the programming of CBAF-FM Moncton and Radio Canada (AM). Radiated power was approved to decrease from 100,000 w to 91,000 w in January 13, 1995. CRTC renewed the license of the station and its transmitters on May 28, 2013 until August 31, 2018. CBAF-16 and CBAF-17 are the repeaters of the CBC radio for Newfoundland and Labrador.
