CIQI FM

CIQI FM Montmagny is one of the seven radios belonging to Groupe Radio Simard. The other stations are located in Rimouski, Rivière-du-Loup, La Pocatière, and St-Georges. Soon a transmitter installed at St-Fabien-de-Panet will operate on frequency 92.5 MHz with an average effective radiated power of 12 600 watts to better serve the southern part of its territory that extends to the US border. Even though the main facilities are located in Montmagy, the station is capable from Quebec City to Rivière-du-Loup and covers the regions of Côte-du-Beaupré and Charlevoix West perfectly. CiQi FM relies on a local service, very focused on local news and is a reference in the MRC of Montmgany-L’Islet. The primary mandate of CIQI FM 90.3 is to be connected to the realities and needs of the region it serves: the radio station reflects the social, commercial and political issues of its community.

CiQi-FM as a Francophone Adult Contemporary music station (targeting adults audience aged 35-54) was launched on Sep 6, 2011 in Montmagny. Currently operating on a frequency of 90.3 MHz using an ERP of 17, 460 w the station is owned by Radio Montmagny Inc. through Groupe Radio Simard. Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on Aug 26, 2008 authorized Guy Simard to set up a French language commercial radio in Montmagny; transmitter would be installed at Saint-Fabien-de-Panet. Proposed programming included 42 hours devoted to local content, 14 and a quarter would make spoken word programs and local news would get around 4 hours. To complete the schedule 84 hours of programming was borrowed from CHOX-FM La Pocatière.
