Hot 89.9 FM is a Contemporary Hit radio launched on Feb 7, 2003 and owned by Newcap Radio. CRTC gave a green signal to Newcap Inc. on Oct 4, 2001 for the launch of a dance station broadcasting on 89.9 MHz using an ERP of 27,000 w. CIHT-FM went on air on Feb 7, 2003 from its studios and offices at 1504 Merivale Road. After the launch, the radio swapped its format from rhythmic CHR to Top 40 with 105.3 Kiss FM. The channel and siblings relocated their facilities to 6 Antares Drive, Phase 1 – Unit 100, Ottawa on Nov 26, 2007. A fire at the transmitter site forced the station to stop temporarily but returned to air same day later. CRTC validated the license of the CIHT on Oct 22, 2012 until Aug 31, 2019.
