CKCK-FM Saskatchewan - Jack FM 94.5 Regina, SKJack FM 94.5 Regina also legally known as CKCK-FM is a Regina based station established on July 19, 1922 as an AM station after the licensee George Bell of the Regina Leader Publishing Co. Ltd. planned to do something in radio broadcasting; the station would operate on 2,000 watts ERP and got settled down at 960 kHz in 1925 also decreasing its wattage to 500 w. The Sifton family was the new stakeholder after purchasing The Leader Publishing Co. Ltd. in 1927.  In 1934 the station switched its frequency from 960 to 1010 kHz followed by another change under Havana Treaty; the channel was moved to 620 kHz with ERP of 1,000 watts this time. Canadian Women’s Army Corps (CWAC) took over the channel on May 29, 1943 and added some programs related to permanent active women militia in country.  In 1945 CKCK-FM was one of the CBC Trans-Canada eight supplementary stations. In August 1946 the effective radiated power of the station got increased to 5000 watts.

More About JackFM Regina

CKCK-FM was operated as an affiliate of CBC Trans-Canada network in 1957 post the approval of transfer of the channel from The Leader-Post Ltd. to Transcanada Communications Ltd. by CBC in 1953. Between 1957 or 1958 the channel started broadcasting for 24 hours. Western World Communications purchased CKCK and a couple other channels from Armadale Communications Ltd. in 1991 to sale two of them CKCK and CKIT to Brandon based Craig Broadcasting Systems Inc. five years later in 1996. Harvard Communications purchased the station along with CKLT, CKRM and CFWF, another Regina FM station in 2001. CKCK’s AM signal eventually shutdown in November 2001. At this time Rawlco acquired the assets from Harvard to relaunch the FM station at 94.5 FM after the approval of CRTC. CKCK-FM was officially launched by Rawlco at 94.5 MHz on August 12, 2002 after some signal testing in June and July. The Jack FM on its rebirth came up with a Classic Rock format. The branding “Jack FM” was given to the station on July 29, 2005 with the format being flipped to Rock Hits. Regina’s Greatest Hits is the catchphrase used by 94.5 Jack FM. The call-signs of the station are an abbreviation of Canada Knows JACK. Sheri and Woody Morning Show is a very popular and most listened program at the station.
