K-Rock 89.3 (CIJK-FM) Kentville owned by Newcap Radio is an Active Rock station launched on June 12, 2008. CRTC granted the applicant: Newcap Inc. a license to setup an English language commercial station in the town on July 6, 2007. The Valley’s Best Rock is the catch-phrase of the CIJK-FM. It would use a frequency of 89.3 MHz and make its transmission through a 9,900 watts transmitter. Classical Hits form 70, 80’s and 90’s would make the content of the station served to the audiences between ages of 24 and 54. News, Spoken word programs, traffic reports, local weather including live and voice-tracked content was also proposed and therefore to be abided by Newcap. Newcap agreed that local content would be 75% of the programing.
