Wow 97.1 FM

Wow 97.1 FM aka CHLX-FM is an AC and Jazz format station owned by RNC Media and operating in Gatineau. The Francophone station was approved by CRTC on Oct 4, 2001 after receiving the request from Radio Nord Communications Inc. The wish to get allowed to use 97.9 MHz was not fulfilled and it had to move on 97.1 MHz. ERP would be 12,600 w. CHLX-FM hit the waves on Sep 23, 2002 from its studios and offices at 125 rue Jean-Proulx which were later relocated to 171A, rue Jean-Proulx. The Classical and Jazz format was changed to Soft Adult Contemporary with branding changing from Couleur FM to Planete 97.1. After signing a deal with Cogeco, it swapped the format to Hot AC and would now be known as Rythme FM adapted after flipping with Rythme FM Outaouais. Jazz still has a two hour presence in the timeslots on weekdays. CHLX-FM was rechristened as Wow 97.1 in Jan 2017. Wow 97.1 produces 100% local programming made with 200% love from Gatineau, Ottawa. It shares a maximum listening comfort with best contemporary hits of all time reaching to women aged 30-49.
